Brown rice vs. quinoa?

I eat a half cup of organic brown basmati rice every day. I see a lot of people eating quinoa, and I'm wondering the benefits nutritionally of one vs. the other. Also... peanut butter vs. almond butter? Appears to have pretty well the same amount of fat, cals, protein, so why do so many people choose almond butter?

I think both quinoa and almond butter are relatively "new" to the health food scene - meaning that they have received a lot of attention in the past few years. That might be part of why you see it used so much now.
But quinoa and almond butter do both offer higher nutrients than brown rice and peanut butter. For example, quinoa is higher in protein, fiber and most vitamins and minerals than brown rice.
With almond butter and peanut butter - you are right, they are pretty much identical in fats and calories but almond butter is higher in a few vitamins and minerals than peanut butter. Almond Butter has also become more popular due to the increase in peanut allergies.
You can always look up each foods nutrients (past the calories) to compare them0 -
I use almond butter in my oatmeal for extra protein. It doesn't drown out the other flavours like peanut butter does.
I do not like the taste of peanut butter in oatmeal.
I also find that quinoa cooks better then rice.0
