I know that it is not good to consistently eat low calories (1200ish) but I was wondering if it is beneficial to occasionly dip down that low. (Create a larger deficit for a day or two). I like the idea, but don't want to do this if it will have no effect on weight loss. If anyone has input, it would be greatly appreciated.

I don't eat that low, but if you're planning on having a high calorie day sometime during the week, it couldn't hurt. When I know I'll be eating more over the weekend or something, I'll eat 100-200 calories less that week.
It also really depends on your current weight, height, how much you need to lose, etc.0 -
What really matter is the long term trend, not what is happening on day to day
If you will be happier if you eat low (or even fast) a day or two in teh week so that you can eat more the rest of the time that's up to you. I do not believe you can do any damage if you don't go crazy with super low cals for majority of the time. You should however average a reasonable deficit at the end of the week0
