The tapping solution for dealing with cravings

Hi all,
So my friend calls me today and tells me I must watch a video on The tapping solution. She says it looks like a very promising way to deal with cravings and the feelings around losing weight. I watched a few videos and am skeptical this would work on a long term basis. I mean, I just can't see myself tapping my face and body and talking to myself out in public.lol Which is where I am often tempted by cravings. I can see it as a way to slow down your thinking and refocus before you decided to binge or something like that (at home) but other than that I dunno. Does anyone use the tapping solution and how has it worked for you?

Googled and watched a few minutes of an "official trailer" for a book? Is that what you're referring to?
In any event, if I understand what is suggested practice based on your post - you probably won't find me tapping my face and body and talking to myself on the sidewalk -- but that's me.
And honestly, if something works for you in terms of managing your life in the way you want, you'll likely be much happier if you do it and put aside any issues around feeling silly or pre-conceptions about what is the "right" way to behave, and just do what works for you. Inhibitions, especially generalized ones about innocuous but "odd" behavior, can really limit your options. Give it a try (at home and in public) if you think you can see it working for you but only in the privacy of your own home.
It sounds goofy to me, and there's really no way I could try it expecting results, but that's on me and my own pre-conceptions. And you've got to be able to ignore that aspect of folks like me if you find something that works for you.
ETA: I deserve an ignoble for how badly that post reads. Shorter: No idea what exactly it is; it almost certainly wouldn't work for me because of my own ingrained notions; that doesn't mean it wouldn't work for you; don't let feeling silly keep you from doing something if you think it might help you. Give it a go if you fancy - too many people forego experiments because they worry what others will think of them.0 -
Well, I agree with you, thanks for your response. I may try it at home and see if it helps me from binging on something I shouldn't but I just can't see myself doing this out in public. Its a bit too 'obvious' a way to deal with my feelings when in public. I'm sure I'd get stares.lol My girlfriend says she's been doing it and it's working for her so I'm happy for her. We are meeting today for a coffee to discuss it.0
