I am looking at adding some ceral with my fruit and greek yoghurt for breakfast however I do not want one with many calories.. I have been looking at granola, but it seems quite high in calories?

Would I be better with a ceral, special K looks like a nice healthy one?

    Opps ignore my spelling lol!
  • Yeah, granola is sooo good and goes so well with yogurt and fruit - but yes, so high in calories! You could just use a small amount of granola to get a little flavor and crunch - maybe a 1/4 cup?

I don't eat much cereal but I do like the Kashi GoLean cereals because they are higher in protein and pretty low in calories (and natural ingredients).

I would say - get the cereal you like (even granola) and use only a small serving of it to mix in. Good luck :)

I've ended up enjoying "puffed" cereals. I really like Puffed Kamut (like wheat--it's like sugar/honey Smacks without the sugar). I always mean to remind myself to eat it just as a snack too with no milk. It's only 50 calories per cup. Puffed Rice is great too at just 60 calories per cup. I get organic versions in bags in the whole foods section of my regular grocery store.

I think I've only eaten these once as a traditional bowl of cereal with milk, but it was delicious with blueberries. I often add them to yogurt just for the volume/texture. And I usually include walnuts. Building your own this way lets you modify based on your calories available/macro goals.

Granola has a pretty high sugar gram content - no matter if they call it low cal, low fat, or whatever. Best to avoid it unless you are doing a lot of cardio to burn it off and need the carbs.

Look for cereals to mix in your yoghurt and fruit that score (per portion) something like 3g of sugar.
