I use an arm-band. I can't run without my phone since I use the Nike+Running app (and also music. Who are these weird people who run in silence? How do you DO it?)

Went tot the Amazon and kept my camera in my bra. By the end of the trip it died. I think the humidity did it in.

Also, I fear that having my PHONE NEAR MY BREAST MAY GIVE ME CANCER which killed my sister. But I keep it and my keys there at the dog park.

Spibelt - does not move at all. I forget I'm even wearing, you can also add drink holders, gels, etc..

    I use the endurance series.

Damn, those are awesome! I'm going to snag a couple!

Being a petite female that runs early in the mornings when it is dark, my phone is a necessity. I also like to map my runs to know my distance and time. I never check it, just require it on me.

I use a runner's belt. I bought it from amazon for $13 (??) or so. I also use it for lifting cause I have to have music going when I work out. Nothing like Metallica to get the adrenaline going. :)

Oh crap. I assumed you were a guy because of the profile photo. lol Well, then, clipping it to the back of a sports bra might work for you, as well, I don't even feel it.

    That's awesome :D

I may have to try clipping it. I actually have a sports bra with a zipper that holds my phone great...but after 2 miles, my chest hurts and I feel a little more out of breath.
  • I use my phone to track my HR and run stats so I like to be able to see it. Digifit makes an armband that is specifically designed to go on your forearm. http://www.digifit.com/saddle/ I'.m going to try this the next time I'm in the market for one.

I have a wrist pocket that has a zipper on one end (for credit card, id...) and the other side holds my phone which I use (I track my stats w/strava). http://www.rei.com/product/804252/sprigs-phone-banjees-wrist-wallet
so far it's worked for me on all my runs

this topic is brought up often on the runners world forum...
usually gets a lot of people riled up when talking about using them in races and not hearing people coming up from behind.

  • I use an armband for my phone because I use the Runtastic app and I gotta have my tunes!

I have a tuneband -- wraps on my arm. The default velcro strap became too big and they sent me the small--no charge.
I also have a spibelt, but it doesn't have much room. I would try it out before purchasing if you have a large phone. My iphone 5 barely fits.

I use my phone for tracking miles and speed as I don't have a Garmin. I use runtastic.

What run with my phone? Never it is my only break from the nasty device. Family has learned to say...sorry not available he is out running. I leave it in the car with a voice response set to out running and solving world problems. Will not remember solution when I get back but I will feel better. Leave message and have a great day.

I hope you never have an accident that requires a need for a phone. My running friend slipped and severely sprained his ankle on a run one day and had to call his wife to come pick him...without a phone, he'd have been stuck there for quite a while.

OP: I keep mine in a running belt...mine is super comfortable and doesn't bounce around at all.

Phone or no phone common practice should be the same, significant other knows your route and about when you will be back. Arguments for phone could be made either way. I prefer the solitude, my phone is a source of irritation at times. But my wife always knows my route and when I am due back. Why? What happens if you are incapacitated to the point you can't use phone or you are in an area you have no connection? Phone is only a safety line if the three following are true...phone in possession, signal available, and you are able to use it. Some of the places I chose to run are off trail and off beaten track. It is a risk i am willing to take and one my wife is willing to accept (albeit reluctantly) so no signal is a definite result.

I found the BEST arm band solution for any size phone for weight lifting or cardio on a facebook page run by a trainer that I follow...look up FitNix5 on Instagram, as she posted a how-to about a week ago. She uses cute knee socks (I got some for $1.98 at KMart!), cuts the feet out, and runs the tube up her arm. Fold it over, and you've got an easy phone-holding arm-band.

Ditching my phone for a Garmin = best decision ever. I highly recommend you do the same.

I just carry mine in my hand while I run. Then I can easily flip songs if I want to, or see how far I've gone if I don't have my Garmin on.

I store mine on my kitchen counter...running is 100 percent "me time".

No phone. I agree with Keith. My running is me time.

For short runs, my phone stays in my hand. For my long runs, it goes into my handheld water bottle thing-a-ma-jig. (yes that is the technical term for it) Now, offcourse I never answer it. I use my phone during runs for my music and logging using the runtastic app only.

Flipbelt is great, check out their website. Room for phone, ID, fuel, etc. I do prefer the armband for my phone (never have answered it though) use it for music and emergencies (none as yet).
