Who has supported/inspired you?

Today will be the 144th day that I have logged everything I have eaten on MFP. Beginning this process at 6’6’’ and 405 lbs, I have lost 57 lbs. and have roughly another 100 to go before hitting my goal. As with many people, I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I work in a high-stress profession and after 3 years of ignoring the problem, one year ago I switched jobs and met a wonderful new friend who has inspired and supported me in making healthy changes.

By first pushing me to get a fitbit, giving me healthy eating tips and recipes, and answering every annoying question I have, Rikki007s (MFP Name) has been a huge part of my continued move towards a healthy lifestyle. Actually, her encouragement translated into my entire family getting fitbits!

Today, I eat a healthy diet, I exercise 5 days a week, I haven’t had a cigarette in almost a year, and I am truly positive for the future. So here is my public THANK YOU to Rikki007s! Your support and your example have made an enormous difference.

Who has inspired, supported, or made a difference in your efforts to lose weight and/or improve fitness?

First of all, keep up the great work! It sounds like you're doing very well and that last 100 lbs. doesn't stand a chance.

To answer the question, I was not directly inspired or supported by anyone in the sense that they lit a fire under my *kitten* and whipped me into shape, but I was inspired by the notion of getting myself into shape to avoid hereditary health issues in my family such as diabetes and cancer, as well as becoming an inspiration to other family members.

It was slow at first, but after witnessing my results a number of family members have initiated their own efforts to adopt a healthier lifestyle. My mom has been probably the greatest inspiration of them all. She's lost close to 50 lbs. and has MUCH tighter control of her diabetes, all because she saw me lose the weight and decided to lose her own excess weight and make wiser food choices. Yeah, there's the handful of family members that think I'm a "health nut," or that I have mental problems, but even more have seen what I've done and have been inspired to undergo their own transformation.
