Multi-Level Marketing Supplements etc.

I've recently seen an increase in social media communication by friends in the latest Multi-Level Marketing Health initiative - Advocare. They might have good products and good success? I assume that someone involved will chime in here

But, my real point is that I don't care for Multi-Level Marketing programs. They sell overpriced products and create a system which abuses personal networks of loved ones and friends. Most of these programs share common traits: 1) They promise riches for the ones who sign up to sell them. 2) They make exagerated claims about the results of the money you can earn and the results of using their products. 3) They endoctrinate the people in their sales channel with communicatiion, seminars and events. These almost seem to brainwash the participants 4) They have amazing stories and testimonials from people from all walks of life, including famous people such as athletes.

My biggest issue is that this kind of sales distribution system abuses personal networks. You might have a good friend or favorite relative who gets involved in one of these organizations. All of the sudden, a large part of their communication becomes about this new wonderful suite of products. They are so passionate because they are truly made to feel that they are helping those they love and care for. At the same time, they have visions of become rich or achieving some sort of financial freedom. The sad part is that all this personal relationship time will be wasted talking about this new venture.

I've seen them come and go several times with relatives and friends over the years. The patterns are always the same. The level of passion on the part of the participants are always the same. And, every new program is considered at the time to be "different".

Today's Advocare is yesterdays Amway or Herbalife. I'm all for self directed entrepreneurism. Just not a program which directly inserts itself into family events, personal communication etc.

Your feelings on the matter?
