Jawbone Vs Fitbit Vs... something else?

I've been thinking I'd like to look into getting something like a Jawbone or a Fitbit. I'm curious what people think of them.

Are they worth it? Pros and Cons?

Thanks!

IT really depends on what you want to achieve from it, fwiw I personally don't see much point in spending £100 on an overenthusiastic pedometer.

If you're doing any significant training then I'd advocate a HEart Rate Monitor as of more practical use, but if not then Jawbone, Fitbit or their various competitors might be an interesting toy.

It really does matter on what you plan to get from it. I have a FitBit One and decided on it, after tons of research, for several reasons. I wanted something to track my steps, distance, and stairs. I also liked the idea of it tracking my sleep (I have a sleep disorder and I wanted a log of my sleep patterns), and I liked the idea of being able to set goals and have it be a source of motivation. It really does help me get up and move more, but I could see where it wouldn't work for everyone.

I've had mine for almost a month and have worn it constantly (except when I shower). Some people don't like the One or the Zip because they clip to your clothes and people forget they are there. I've only had this happen once and realized it within a few minutes.

I have both a Jawbone UP & a Fitbit Flex. All Fitbits (including the Fitbit Aria wifi scale, which I also have) have been having trouble syncing with MFP since Christmas. And Fitbit recalled the Force.

Fitbit makes non-band activity trackers that can be clipped to your bra or slipped in a pocket.

MFP has a Fitbit Users group:

and a Jawbone UP Bracelet group:

I have had a Jawbone Up for over two weeks now. I had wanted something and I bought a new phone & got the JB for $29. I really like it. It motivates me and the software is very helpful. And the sleep info has been very helpful; it makes suggestions that I am trying to follow. And it looks like a bracelet and I like that. It is definitelymotivator.

My fitbit (one) syncs to MPF just fine. I've had is since July, and haven't noticed any difference. A couple of times they had server problems(maybe updates). But they never last long.

I love my Fitbit Flex... It gives me an accurate TDEE. With my lifestyle, this varies greatly from day to day. I haven't had too many syncing problems, but it does take some playing around some times to get it to sync. I find it pretty comfortable even to sleep in and I'm not worried about losing it since it stays on my wrist well.

I'm looking into the Basis Carbon Steele wrist monitor. I like the idea of using biometric data for activity tracking rather than algorithms and altimeters.
It is more expensive than other devices, and my research continues.
