Exercise after head injury

Last week Sunday I sustained a concussion... it was mild (the doctor said based on the physical exam she could tell I had hit my head but didn't feel there was need for futher testing). I asked her when I could start working out again and she told me to give it a week. Tomorrow will be a week-- but I still have a mild headache.

Obviously, with the disclaimer of "see your doctor before you begin excercising again", if you have been in a similar situation, how long did it take for you to feel like working out again.

Just looking for opinions from those who have "been there done that"-- I will check with my doctor before I start again.

Obviously, every case is different. I suffered a mild concussion 4-5 weeks ago in an auto accident (spun out on ice and hit a concrete barrier at 40 mph). While the "brain fog" cleared up in 4-5 days, I still found myself feeling out of sorts and with balance issues for awhile after that (not to mention exhausted every morning no matter how much sleep I got). I took my dog for a walk about 10 days after the accident and it felt like I was balancing on the edge of a cliff the entire time. It was at least two weeks before I felt comfortable trying to exercise.
