Strength Training Questions

Hi There,

I workout for 45-55 minutes daily doing cardio, but from what I've been reading on here everyone is saying strength training is the way to go. I go to a gym, and I'm hoping to get some advise from others on here on which equipment is best for toning thighs, butt, hip and stomach areas? Also, if needed I'm 5'5, 137 pounds and want to get down to 125. I have a feeling this may be too broad of a question so my apologies, I've never done strength training before. Thanks in advance!
