Had my Wisdom teeth out/Starting new Diet Bet

The day after the last diet bet ended, I had all four wisdom teeth (plus and extra molar) extracted. The two on the bottom were especially difficult to get out as they were severely impacted. I'm very swollen and in a lot of pain. For the past 4 days my caloric intake has been somewhere around 1000 calories due to my limited liquid/soft food diet. I was worried that I would drop too many pounds after this and it would mess me up with my initial weigh in for this new bet. Much to my surprise, I'm up a pound! I've been trying make the most of my calories and making sure they are nutrient dense and taking in as much protein as possible to help my body heal. I can't imagine that my body has slipped into starvation mode already. I haven't been working, just mainly laying around and doing very light housework, so the only calorie burn my body is getting is the act of trying to heal itself. I'm confused as to where that extra pound came from. I just want my weigh in to be a true representation of me since before my surgery I was taking in around 1400 to 1500 calories a day and working out 3 times a week. Not sure what to do! Any suggestions?

I'm going to bet it's from swelling and water retention...
I'm having the opposite problem. I just started the 6-mo March diet bet and had to make myself heavier. I had oral surgery last Friday and am down 8 pounds since then... I try my best to eat but it's so hard to even drink water right now.
I hope you are healing better and faster than I. I wouldn't worry about being u p 1 pound though.
I'm on a pure liquid diet, lots of protein power shakes and ice chips. Just keep trying to get the water down.0
