Spastic is a REALLY f u x i n g offensive term dude. This is the 21st century and such terms have no place in it.
It is a medical term originating from the mid-16th century, derived from the Latin term spasticus and the Greek word spastikós.
Medical definition:
“Spasticity: A state of increased tone of a muscle (and an increase in the deep tendon reflexes). For example, with spasticity of the legs (spastic paraplegia) there is an increase in tone of the leg muscles so they feel tight and rigid and the knee jerk reflex is exaggerated.”
You will find it in medical documentation as a diagnosis.
Hardly offensive terminology in the proper context.2 -
