I have also found that doing side-by-side comparisons can be helpful, along with getting a non-biased, outside opinion.
I've lost a considerably larger amount of weight than you have, and it is only recently that I can see the changes myself, in the mirror. I've spent a lot of time looking through old pictures of myself (good ol' facebook helps with this) and I can really see the changes now, in my face, and in the rest of my body.
I also noticed the changes more, once I went out and bought some new clothes, in smaller sizes.0
