Weighing Beans

I like my new scale and all, but I'm uber confused. A serving out of the can of beans according to label is 1/2 cup (130 g). It says it has 3 1/2 servings per can. I weighed out 130g for my boyfriend and there was only 111g left.. so not really even 2 servings in the can. My best guess is that it has 1 1/2 servings of just liquid in the can. The liquid, I'm assuming, should have a different calorie count from the actual beans. So.. in the case of beans, using a measuring cup will be more accurate than weighing, I think. Is this correct? Do you weigh or measure beans?

i would weigh the beans, no liquid, but I am curious about what others think about the overall issue you bring up.

I drain them and then weigh them.

Wow.. I really thought this would have more answers by now. I look in other threads and people are talking about weighing foods religiously, but hardly any to actually help with this. Well, thanks, ladies. :)

Drain them, then weigh the beans, then divide that number by numbers of servings.
