Frustrated!!! Working out and staying in calories

HI! I'm frustrated to no end. I have been doing a light strength and mobility workout and walking an extra 1.1/2-2 miles a day at a rate of 2.5mph. I have only been adding half of the calories from the exercises I earn to my daily allowance and yet I haven't lost any weight! This is the first week that I've been doing this regularly but this is also the first week that I've gained weight.. The workout says I've earned600 calories+ and that couldn't possibly be right. It's a 30 min. work out and it's for beginners so I claim even less then the half. Usually 200 MAX and 100 from walking. Any advice?

You started a new exercise routine. Its only been one week.

Its water weight from muscle micro tears or who knows what. Just keep it up and deal with it. Stop looking at the scale for a bit if it helps.

Give it some time. When you start a new exercise program, it can often lead to water retention in your muscles as they repair/adjust. Not everybody loses a lot right at first. Stick with it, and make sure you are measuring your food correctly, and results should come.

If you are using the estimates that MFP gives for exercise, that could be your first issue. Get a HRM so you can see how many calories you are actually burning. Walking at 2.5 mph for 30 minutes or less really won't burn many calories.

Your diary isn't public so I can't give advice there. Good luck!

Yes I agree give it atleast 3-4 weeks to see any significant changes. Also if you are working with weights don't look to the scale for results. Look at your clothes or measure yourself. Set yourself goals and make this a fun time in your life. Try not to look at it like its something you have to do but rather something you get to do! You will look back in 4-6 mo in amazement!

If there is a strength component to the workout, you could have gained some water weight from the muscle work. That's pretty common. I would not trust the calorie count of 600, that's too high. You'd be better off not eating back more than 100-200 calories based on the workout. Give it some time and see how it goes.

You may also be building muscle, which would make up for any weight from fat lost. You may want to measure waist and other body parts to see if you're shrinking there.

And yes, it takes time. I find if I weigh myself more than twice a week, it drives me a little crazy, because what I end up fixating on is the daily fluctuations in weight rather than the slow and steady weight loss that happens over time.

No muscle is built while at a deficet unless you have never exercised before (noob gains) or are morbidly obese.

Thanks so much that makes sense. I just am so sore and then to gain weight even though I'm working out is frustrating. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
