Workout twice a day?

Does anyone workout more than once in a day? I do an hour of cardio/strength at night when I get home, but today I felt extra good about the weight I've been losing and decided to kick It up a notch by adding in a 20 minute jog in the morning. Is it ok to do this every day? It's not too strenuous or anything, I feel it could really help down the line.

I don't always have a lot of time to work out, so I often break it up into 30 minute chunks. On a good day, I can get in 3 30 minute workouts. But they're not P90X workouts. They're more like walking workouts, or strength training with 5lb weight workouts. On weekends when I can, I try to take it up a notch.

I typically work out 2 x daily between running, rowing, riding & strength. Whether or not it's advisable depends largely on the duration, intensity and impact of the workouts you're doing (and how long you've already been exercising.....ie how much adaptation your body has already gone through)

Certain activities, such as weights and running, tend to require more recovery time, hence the admonition - especially for new runners - to run on alternate days and to either lift on alternate days or work different parts of your body (don't do legs and run the same day....)

I'd approach it cautiously, monitor yourself for fatigue or the little niggles you get from overuse (if ignored they'll often turn into full blown injuries which is no fun.....) . Don't become a victim of your own enthusiasm.

Sometimes I do, but the workout might be different activities. Yesterday, I did cardio and some core strength in the AM, then did a yoga class at night. When the weather is good, I walk at least 1.5 miles a day, and I still work out besides that.

I typically run 3-4 and cycle 1-2 mornings (5 days total/week) and then lift in the evenings (4-5 days/week). Never have had any issues. Rest days are actual full rest days (2/week) where I do no exercise morning or evening. As Brian said, it's more about the duration, intensity and impact than the actual double-dipping.
