Hi, obviously I am new. I turned 40 last year, mom of two teens and married.
I am a belly dancer of almost 7 years. I have class two days a week about 1 1/2 hours.
Other wise I pretty much just sit around.
I am disabled. I have fibromyalgia and I am also on many meds all with the side effect of weight gain.
I had a hysterectomy in November and had a reaction to a med and I was laid up for 2 1/2 months, sooo, needless to say, I gained more weight.
I love Yoga, I love dancing.
But I can not get my butt off of the couch. I just can not get motivated. It makes me angry yet, here i sit.
About 8 yrs ago, when I weight less, I was upset about the weight I was at and went and seen a nutritionist. In one sitting she taught me how to eat. It was so wonderful, I lost even more than I thought I could in a very small amount of time. But at the time, I worked and so had a schedule, and because I worked, I could afford healthy food.
Now, I have no schedule and we can not afford healthy food, its too expensive!
I also have high cholesterol. So here I sit...upset.

You've made the first step!!! So congratulations :-)
Eating healthy is not that expensive really ... buy beans dry in the bulk section and soak over night, go to farmer's markets, buy frozen veg when it's on sale ... maybe just start today with one little change ... go for a walk? throw out the junk food in your cupboards? take some before pictures?
Good luck!!! we're all rooting for you!0 -
start off slow, its not a race
just get used to logging food every day
then work on hitting your macro nutrients (fat, protein, carbs)
you dont really need exercise to lose weight, try something simple like walking
3500 cals =1 lb so if you stay under that you wont gain, but you need a deficit to lose
so dont be hard on yourself if you go over
baby steps you can do it!
eat more than 1200 cals a day, everyone thinks starving yourself helps to lose weight its not true!
the more you eat the more you burn0 -
I'm not a snacker, love baked goods though but I don't eat them very often.
I am only eating like twice a day, I know that is not good.
When I went to a nutritionist about 8 yrs ago and learned how to eat, I ate more in a day then I ever had.
I have belly dance class tonight, a great workout. Its usually 1 1/2 to two hours long.
And I plan on doing Yoga before hand.
I have fibromyalgia so sometimes it is hard to move. However, I know that moving actually helps, I have a Yoga for Pain DVD that I just got.
Every year I create my own solo, and this year I want to branch off into Tribal Fusion. This is a very hard form of mixed dance. Belly dance, Hip hop, ballet, Jazz, etc. It is very controlled. One has to be VERY flexible and have a very strong core, legs and arms. All of the tribal fusion dancer I have seen are uber skinny. I feel like I look absolutely ridiculous.
And yet, I sit around. I am not self disciplined. My heart says, "Do it!" My mind says "meh" and also "do it!" my body says,"yuk, take a nap" lol0 -
Can't really walk at the moment, I live in MI. The snow is piled high and the roads slippery.
However, I have a friend who has an eliptical and tread mill. I find myself making excuses not to go. GAH!
It is kind of a race, because I need to be fit, flexible, toned, and strong before June. If I lost at least 5 to 10 pounds by then and was fit, flexible and toned that would be awesome. That is usually when I start my dance solos at performances.0
