New to this...

Hey all. I'm a 28-year-old father of two, and I'm in the process of training for my first triathlon in September. My father has been a triathlete for a few years and he's finally succeeded in motivating me to try.

I was a martial artist (Tae Kwon Do, specifically Chung Do Kwan) for the majority of my life, training fairly heavily, but then quit when I started dating...priorities changed. Then came college, a full-time job and now a family. I let myself get fairly out of shape.

My dad pretty much talks about nothing by Triathlons, and the family and I always go to support him. So, after my doc said I need to start exercising to lower my blood pressure, I thought, "Why not try to do a Tri?" Two weeks ago a picked up a road bike on Craigslist (2011 Scott CR-1 Team for $600 bucks...almost felt bad, like I was ripping the guy off) and a pair of running shoes and started training.

I'm new to this whole calorie counting biz, but my coach says I need to pay attention to my macros, and it would be good for me to lose a few lbs (or even 20). So, here I am. Looking for any friends who may be attempting something new and challenging to provide some motivation.
