Only 5lbs. to loose

Is putting in workout (assumptions) really necessary -- or just putting in the food? If I meet my calorie goal with food for the day without logging my workout (and I did workout) -- shouldn't I loose weight (because technically if you put in the exercise -- it gives you more calories that you can eat -- but if you skip those calories -- calories in - calories out -- wouldn't you naturally just loose weight if you didn't eat those added calories.
