42 weeks in and feeling great

I changed my life 42 weeks ago after a visit to the doctor and seeing them mark me down as "obese" on the chart. OMG, it freaked me out…but she was correct. I had been an athlete all my life….but I was 54 now and had let it go. I was now on blood pressure and cholesterol medicine and at risk for diabetes. I was at an all-time high of 255. But I didn’t do any exercise except ride a golf cart....while drinking beer...lol. And I would routinely go to The Varsity here in Atl and get 4 hot dogs, large fries, and onion rings for lunch. I actually did this 3 days in a row once. So I needed to change.
So I started eating healthier….my wife had been trying to get me to do this for years. I went back to the gym…..first day was run/walk for 10 minutes. Just made a schedule (I’m an engineer and I like spreadsheets). I picked out the Savannah Rock-n-Roll Marathon in Nov of 2013 as my goal. Started doing some weight training 3 days a week too.
I did the marathon, I am running 45-50 miles per week now. Won my age group in a local 5K, just did a 15K in 8 min mile pace, have 3 half’s scheduled for the next 6 weeks. Ran and completed the Krispy Kreme Challenge, 2.5 miles, a dozen doughnuts, then 2.5 miles back in under and hour! Now I love running and eating healthy. Love the way I feel. I am down 77 lbs, off medicine and feel the best I have ever felt. It is a lifestyle change for me!
I found this website a month or so ago…..I like to use it to record the foods I eat during the day so I know what I can do at night. It helps remind me of what the nutritional value of different foods are. Anyway, it is a great web site. I like to read other people's comments and success.....so I thought I would share mine.
Good luck to everyone on their journey.
