HRM, i thought you MFP'ers might have a clue to offer

Hello, i would like to get a HRM watch in a week or so... then i will have a true calorie burn count.

i like the ~~~~> http://www.mybasis.com/

This "" Basis "" is like a Fit Bit and a Polar in one ,... no chest strap , it reads your wrist to get your HRM and Fat burns , + sleep patterns.

i plan to spend for 2 watches , $150 to $300

so $75 - $150 each , but the BASIS are $220 each .... Looking for something that will do the same but for less $$$ Moola . any thoughts? looking for affordable accuracy ... still lost on the subject , going to some stores to look around this weekend.

i thought you MFP'ers might have a clue to offer , the lowest i'll spend is $75 each watch , but i'm sure there's nothing of accuracy and reliability for that price... unless some kind of knock off... and as high or close too $150 each watch.

Yes , i am still considering this one... BASIS

I saw on TV a new product last month , the segment ran short and the host said the name of a HRM and called it "" FIT ""
How they spelled it i don't know.. i have looked and experimented with spellings , but no luck. i know it was not FITBIT,
They just called it FIT , Kathy lee and Hoda show or Good Mourning America is where i saw / heard it.

i know in the past , some of these watches can actually keep track of how much you eat in calories as well..

If there was a BASIS that also did that and was Water proof for swimming and maybe Diving , i would jump on it... But $$$ is a factor.. I have polled my friends and Forum, and so far no one with real updated HRM experience.

I really don't mean to bother you Folks, but :ohwell: i have no idea where to start on who's who of HRM and activity watches.

I like the sleep pattern of the BASIS , but it seems like it does very little , but what it does do i like , just that it is not water proof for swimming.

Not sure what to invest in. Don't want to get stuck with current old technology and yet looking for something that will be up to date for a couple of years..

i'm looking to buy 2 watches .

Well if you know or hear anything , i'd appreciate any insight you might come across .. in about a week i'd like to have one ...

i'll look at some magazines and see if i get lucky..

Thanks again for any info on HRM's like the BASIS ... If it was swimming / Diving proof and could count calories eaten , it would be complete in my opinion.. Don't mean to be picky , but the Heart wants what the Heart wants...

NICK , :drinker:

Thanks if you know anything that can help guide me ...

Maybe at night some one might help out.
  • Well, lets get the first thing our of the way. The FIT you mention is the Samsung Gear Fit. Their is not much information on what it can do with the Optical HRM, but I suspect it would be similar to the Basis.

The Basis is nice and keeps track of your heart rate, sleep and steps. It also sets up habit (or goals) to get you towards a healthier lifestyle. But this watch will not track your heart rate when you are very active. Like running or playing sports. It will also not sync to MFP.

Fitbits are good trackers and will sync with many services like MFP. Then maybe look at the Alpha Mio for the hear rate tracking.

I am also in the quest to find the right tracker, but it is not there yet.

how about either the Garmin Vivofit (with HR band) or the Polar Loop. They're both primarily activity trackers, but also link via HR chestbelts and become something a little more accurate for more serious cardio stuff than "just walking around".

Downside of course, is AFAIK they don't integrate with MFP - and neither of the companies have a good track record of "playing nicely" with external partners, so don't hold your breath that they're likely to change all of a sudden.

I enjoy my Polar. It syncs with a lot of apps, if that's your bag, and keeps an awesome record of workouts, etc.

Tons of different models for whatever your needs are!
