The turtle wins the race? (Work Weight loss "competition")

I say "competition" but it really is just a motivational tool for all of us, even tho $300 is at stake for the winner.
This last weigh in was difficult for me, it's only week two and I have lost 2 pounds per week. 1.34% of my weight. But the top 4 people have lost 4%-5%!!!! I'm currently in 6th place.
I think what I'm doing is sustainable. I'm making diet changes that are making a difference and that I can keep up with.
Some of people losing that much % are much further from a healthy weight than I am. I think they are in the obese category while i'm in the overweight category.
It's an 8 week competition so it's too early to tell if the high weekly % they make will continue, but It's hard to stay motivated when it seems like what I am doing isn't good enough.

Keep doing what you're doing because you know it's the right thing. 10 or 12 weeks from now, the competition will be over, and you will still be losing and doing what's right.0

Keep your focus on your health, don't compare yourself to others! I tried not to enter into weight challenges when I signed up for MFP because I only had about 15 or so pounds to lose. I try and enter calorie burning challenges, or strength. I definitely can tell a difference in my pushups from when I began. Also I took up running, when I started could only do about 2 or 3 mins and had to walk. Worked my way up to 3 miles!
Like you said they are at a different stage than you. We had a biggest loser challenge at work a couple years ago and the winner (such a nice person) has gained back all of the weight and then some. Like you said slow and steady wins the OverAll race!
Make small goals for just you and compete with those numbers. My biggest competitor is me!0
