Apparently swishing coconut oil in your mouth for 20 minutes will cure everything wrong with your life... and so much more!

I predict...
1)Dr. Oz doing a show on oil pulling
2) roughly 200000 new threads about oil pulling
3) roughly 200000 butthurt OPs because of the 'oil pulling is dumb' responses
4) slightly fewer 'mean people' threads started on the subject.0 -
Keep seeing this nonsense on Facebook...people get the most bizarre ideas in their heads about health. Show me the peer reviewed studies on all these claims and I'll reconsider, though.0

We need it though. Our livers don't do their job right? All dem toxins.0

from the article:
1. First things first, I battle with my alarm (i.e. hit snooze thirty times).
2. Bitzy then wakes me up, I stumble to the kitchen to feed her and let her out.
3. We both get back into bed & snuggle for a bit.
4. I turn on morning cartoons (not kidding).
5. Head to the kitchen & put a spoonful of coconut oil in my mouth.
6. Get back in bed, set a 20 minute timer, start checking emails.
And further down the link she says it provides for better sleep. Dear Bitzy owner, if it improves sleep why #1 above. Hmmmm, maybe she ought to re-think #1 and the benefits listed, or maybe do something else to meet the benefits she listed, like brush your teeth or something. Derpity derp...0 -

I've been searching for this link a lot lately. I should probably just bookmark it.0 -
" it pulls toxins out of your body through your mouth" I wonder if all those toxins running through your esophagus gives you a sore throat?
This is so ridiculous I felt like I was reading something on The Onion.0 -
Once the oil gets full of toxins, if I swallow it, will I die?0

Did it for teeth whitening. I have really sensitive teeth and I figured I'd give it a go since the risk seemed minimal. I never bought into the whole toxins things in the first place, so it was solely for whitening. It did actually brighten my teeth. I was surprised at that. But as far as feeling healthier or cleaner or whatever you're supposed to feel, no. Not at all. Felt the exact same as when I started. Just like I expected. Maybe it changes some people's lives, but I don't believe it and nothing happened when I tried it to make me think otherwise. But that's just my personal experience.0

You will not die however, you MUST logs those calories!!!!!0 -
On removing toxins from your body: Know how the pros do it? People with serious toxins in their bodies? They screw themselves up to dialysis machines and RUN ALL THE BLOOD IN THEIR BODIES THROUGH IT. ALL THEIR BLOOD. Swish whatever you'd like around in your mouth, more power to you, but don't be fooled that it's cleansing you of anything but your money.
signed, someone who still has the scars from both her dialysis ports0 -
I really can't believe this is a thing and that ANYONE has tried it. Mandatory sterilization is sounding better & better. Licensing for procreating too.0

This is about the same conclusion as the article I posted upthread ^
It has some benefits to oral hygiene but it's not going to remove toxins or cure cancer. And the oral hygiene stuff is pretty inconclusive.0 -
I can see it being good for your oral health, because coconut oil is antibacterial. As for the other things, eh, I dunno. I figure if nothing else, it couldn't be harmful, so if somebody wants to do it, then yay. Personally, I can't even stomach the thought of it. Oil in my mouth for 20 minutes sounds absolutely disgusting.0

Perhaps we can combine oil pulling with ear candling (http://www.buzzle.com/articles/ear-candles-do-they-work.html). Probably not wise to do them together although both take considerable time.
Swishing oil in your mouth with a lit candle stuck in your ear. 2 birds with one stone.0
