Have lost ~20 lbs in the past month, so I decided to start tracking my calorie intake. I've been very active by going to the gym and running 3-5 miles on the elliptical and also playing basketball a lot. Working shifts really throws me for a loop, i work 12 hour shifts and switch from nights to days often. I weigh ~325 now and my goal is to get below 300 for summer. Should I set better goal than that? I'd like to not be embarrassed when I take my shirt off at the beach, so I've been hitting the gym and trying to eat healthier. Thanks for any advice or greetings in advance

Que pasa, broseidon? It's great that you've decided to take better care of your health. Welcome to the forums. I would suggest that you aim for a bit of a slower rate of weight loss. 20+ lbs in one month is a lot. If you're operating at too low of a calorie deficit, you could be losing a lot of muscle mass too, in addition to not getting all the nutrients your body needs. I'd suggest scaling it back to 2 lbs a week, which would be a 1000 calorie deficit a day. Keep it going, log your food, and have fun bro.0

Eating better does 80% of the work, the other 20% comes from working out. I congratulate you for the weight you had lost in the past month! and I think you had done the right thing of keep track of your calorie intake, NEVER do less than 1200 calories thats not good and will put your body in starvation mode.
The reason why you're losing weight that fast is because of your weight, your body has to work harder when working out hence you are burning more, the closer you get to your normal weight the less weight you lose. I think your goal of less than 300lbs by summer is attainable you have about 3 months.
Keep doing what you're doing. One recommendation (if you're not doing that already) is try to make your own meals so you know what's in there. Also try having 6 small meal a day (3 meals, 3 snacks) meaning eat every 2-3 hrs that will help accelerate your metabolism and lastly I read you work overnight, but always try to keep your meals during the day, if you take snacks try fruits, yogurt and stuff like that nothing heavy. And the most important thing hydrate! drink lots of water that will help you lose weight!
Keep going and dong get discourage it takes time and dedication to achieve your Goals, take it as one pound at a time
