.5 or 1 pound loss a week? 15 pounds to lose

Options
I have been maintaining my 75 pound weight loss for about a year now and need to get serious about losing the last 15 I want to lose. I am struggling with whether or not I should set my goals to .5 pound loss a week or 1 pound loss a week?

A side note, I lost all of my weight using WW. I recently switched to MFP. I have no clue how many calories I was eating on WW so I am struggling with whether or not I am eating too little or too much based on the daily calorie allotment MFP is giving me.

At 1 pound loss a week I am supposed to eat 1470
At .5 pound loss a week I m supposed to eat 1720

I am a certified Jazzercise instructor and burn 650 calories 3x a week (HRM)

Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!

I think it would be a good idea for you to eat normally for maybe a week to see how many calories you are consuming daily on average. From there, you can decrease calories by maybe 100-200 a week to get down to the goal for 1lb/week. If you find that too challenging, just up your calories and go for .5lb/week!

Congrats on your initial weight loss! Use that prior experience to judge how easy or difficult it is to exist on the calories MFP gives you.

Personally I would punch for in between. Expect .5 but you might get the odd 1lb loss. That's what I shoot for anyway, less disappointing.

I would vote for 0.5 because that will be a lot easier transition and easier to maintain. Smaller changes are much easier to implement and stick to. Good luck!

    Half a pound a week.

Log very accurately, you have less wiggle room, your calorie deficit will only be 250 calories.

Also don't forget MFP encourages you to eat back your exercise calories. If you go with the calories for .5 lose and don't eat back all your calories you may lose a bit quicker without feeling deprived.

I lost with Biggest Loser but was similar amount of 28lbs. WW melts my brain lol.

I am 5'2.5 and female and lost on 1400 cals minimum as I wanted a gentle loss which was sustainable and didn't involve feeling too hungry etc. I didn't eat cals back but did eat more at w/e if socialising. I

I switched to MFP when BL subscription ended and now maintain at 133lbs which isn't small but thin enough for me at 46.

Not sure if any of that helps but I would agree with .5 loss safe in the knowledge that it never is that black and white on weigh day but you don't want to lose muscle.
