Who has the link to that guy's blog on MFP who has that graph on it, that shows the ups and downs of weight loss? It was linked from one of these threads, but I've lost my bookmarks.

Scale measurements can fluctuate wildly from hour to hour and day to day, depending how recently you've worked out, what sorts of workouts you are doing, how much sodium you consumed the day before, when your last bowel movement was, how recently you've eaten (and what you ate), hormones, how much water you are drinking, etc. etc. etc.

Measuring at a regular time, in standard attire will give you the most accurate data, but it's still just a picture of a moment in time. Weight loss is not linear, it can go up and down. Sometimes you release a lot of water weight and bloat at the same time, and boom! A big drop after a small plateau or even a small gain.

As an example - I weighed in on Saturday at 312.8. I ate out at restaurants Monday and Tuesday (out of town guests and my husband's birthday). While my calories remained under my limit for each day, I still gained a whopping 6 lbs, per the scale Wednesday. Now, there is no way I can gain 6 lbs in 4 days, especially while eating at a deficit to my caloric output, but the excess sodium and richer foods with more butter/oil/cream that I can't measure? Yeah, that's possible! Then I was down a pound yesterday. Then down 3 this morning after watching my salt intake (I have a weigh out for a weight loss competition tomorrow I was afraid I was going to lose). Hopefully I'll be back on target tomorrow.

    Bodies are weird.
