I admit what got me started was the professor who did the Twinkie diet. He lost weight while only eating Twinkies. I haven't done that but what I did start out was just eating less junk food but still eating it. My problem was overeating. With an daily average of 3 miles of walking at work then another 3 miles with my dog at night, I was not losing weight because of the amount of food I ate.
So I cut back the amount, it never felt like I was on a diet and I lost weight. I've since changed my habits and now I'm eating better so don't break out the pitch forks just yet.
One thing I was very surprised about was midway through my six month eating-less-but-still-having-a-horrible-diet was how low my cholesterol was. I had a physical exam at work one day and it was very low.
Remember, to each their own. No one way works for everyone and I personally would not go on the Super Size Me Not diet myself. I just thought this story was interesting so I posted here at MFP

I haven't read this particular article, but I have seen a news account of this experiment. It reinforces the basic principle of weight management: if you expend more energy than you consume you will lose weight, if you expend less energy than you consume you will gain weight, and if you balance that equation you will maintain your weight.
Anyway, congratulations on figuring out an eating and exercise regimen that works for your lifestyle. That is what is all about. Consistency is the name of the game and when you find something you can stick with, then weight management is fairly straightforward.

Since Jan I have been mostly eating fast food and am losing weight (17pounds aprox). I am in the army and ride horses all day but never had as much success until I ate mostly fast food lol. Just helps me build my daily meals.0
