Oatmeal Apple Brulee
Options
I found this recipe in a magazine and modified it a bit and it is soo good for desert or a quick breakfast.
You'll need 5 little bowls and a brulee torch.
Ingredients:
1 cup oatmeal (I use steal cut but it shouldn’t matter)
1 large red apple (I used a honey crisp mmmm)
1 packet of splenda
4 tbs. brown sugar
1 tbs. cinnamon
1 tbs. vanilla
1 cup milk (2%)
1 ½ cups water
Directions:
Cook the oatmeal, now this may vary slightly depending on the oatmeal you use but for a cup of Coaches Oats it calls for 3 cups of water or milk. I used 1 cup milk and 1 ½ cups water because I like my oatmeal thick.
As your oatmeal thickens add the cinnamon and 4 tbs. of brown sugar.
Cut up the apple into little chunks. In a small pan put about 2 tbsp. of water, the splenda packet, and the vanilla. Cook the apple’s on a medium for about 5 minutes.
Spoon some apples into the bottom of the small bowls. Then add a layer of oatmeal, then another layer of apples, then a top layer of oatmeal.
Once ready to serve add about a tbsp. of brown sugar (enough to cover the top of the oatmeal) and torch the sugar!
Super yummy!
