My first 10km race! Will other runners judge me?

That's fantastic! As the others have said, no one will judge you...you will find a lot of support in your first run. You will find that many run at different paces, and do stop to walk during the run. I tend to stop for a min of 30s - 40s before I start running again. I started running going slow and completing a 5K at 40 mins. Its a bit different on the road than a treadmill, you might find that you will do better outdoors (and much more enjoyable)...
