Thanks so much guys for all the responses and friend requests! I'm hoping I can stay on track this time. I understand that you need to pick yourself back up after falling if you overeat or binge but I remember times where I would fail every day and get depressed an start to hate myself. I thought, I'm just making myself feel worse so why not just stop dieting and restricting and I wouldn't hate myself so much for failing, you know? But I'm just gaining an gaining weight and my dr (who I see about every 8 weeks) is constantly on me about losing weight and how much I'm gaining. I can't keep letting myself eat whatever I want to keep myself from hating myself but I'm worried that I'm going to go back to self loathing.

Does your Dr have you on a specific plan or have you come up with a calorie goal on your own?
I'm asking because often times people start out by shooting for a very low calorie goal and that can be very hard to stick to. When I fall off the wagon and I'm having really hard time getting back on track I will eat maintenance calories for a few days and then cut back from there. First of all, it helps you stop gaining. Second, easing into a *reasonable* calorie deficit helps you avoid those cravings and hunger pangs that are almost impossible to overcome. Also, keep in mind that you can eat the foods you want- just not in unlimited amounts. Failure can happen when we think we'll never again be able to eat what we want. All you need for weight loss is a calorie deficit. You do not need to eat salad everyday. If you want to eat at the food court that's fine. When you understand that you'll hopefully feel a bit liberated.
