proper weight training opinion.

Question time! What is your opinion on weight training the entire upper body one day and the lower the next? I have read some articles that say or suggest that if your not trying to bulk or gain specific results and your just aiming for over all muscle definition and strength then that is ok to do as long as you follow with proper rest. Idk if I agree or disagree but im curious as to what ya'll think?
