Confused about loosing weight and need help.

i am 23 years old , i weigh 235 and i am 5ft 8 inches tall.i

i have stopped eating junk food and soda, been drinking water for the past few weeks

my current diet is 1735 cal a day and i run the treadmill for 60 mins a day 7 days a week.
i recently read articles online saying i should not go lower then my bmr which is 2237.
and i should reach a cal deficit. if i am consuming 1735 a day and burn 500 cal a day, i that bad should i up my in take to about 2100 and loose 500 cal a day better, if so how am i burning more then my intake then??
im really confused????

    I ran your figures through scooby's calculator (http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/) and came up with a BMR of 2236, and a TDEE of 3466.

    BMR is Basal Metabolic Rate - that is what you would burn if you did nothing at all - ie bedridden

    TDEE is total daily energy expenditure - I put you as having 3 - 5 hours of moderate exercise per week - this is what you would have to consume to maintain your current weight.

    To create the deficit you need to eat less than your TDEE. A 20% deficit according to the calculator above would give you a calorie goal of 2772.. (Edited to add that with this method you do not eat back exercise done - exercise is already calculated into the equation.)
