Emotional Eatting Day!

I have been doing great lately! I have lost a few pounds, began exercising more regularly, and have been changing my eatting habits.
But then yesterday happened.... I was hungry and tired. I had a 3000 calorie day! I was shocked by how easily I ate 3000 calories. It suddenly became clear how I have gotten where I am now.
So I went to sleep resolving to stick with it! Today, I was dealing with some stressful issues at work and ended up at home eatting. I only have 300 calories left for the day (I am planning to go to the gym this evening). As I was eatting, I knew.... "This is because I am stressed and I can't deal with it." But I couldn't put down the chips and walk away...
I know this is a long process for me, but I get scared. Scared when the pounds come off and scared when they don't. I just don't want being scared to be the reason I can't do it... again.
How do you all move on from set backs like these?

Immediately.
Keep going with your good habits, and don't look back. You will find it easier and easier to feel/express your emotions instead of eating them. For now, you've made huge progress recognizing that you're eating emotionally.
Just keep going. We all have bad meals or days, the trick is to just resume taking better care of yourself like nothing had happened.

I remember that I probably ate 3000 calories a day EVERYDAY before I was on this site. So every day that I meet my goal is an improvement from last year! :happy:0

For me, everyday is a new day, and I try not to let my bad eating habits from the previous day affect my outlook on the next day. So, you messed up? That's OK. It happens to all of us. At least you know what is causing you to eat. Next time you are stressed, instead of going straight to the pantry, head straight to the gym. Working-out releases endorphins that make you feel better, physically and mentally.0

I have had many days like the ones you are speaking of... What I try to do is look at it as 3000 cals is better than 5000 cals and then I think that it is another day to make things right!
At least you are going to the gym... that will get you out of the house (and away from the food).
From now on (and even tonight if you still aren't on track) try to eat low-cal fillers high in protein & fiber. When I am in the mood to just STUFF food in my mouth I eat light popcorn. And be sure to include a diet soda or some beverage with substance. Water won't do the trick! Unless you put a Crystal Light pack in the water.
Another savior for me is Bryers FF Slow Churned Chocolate ice cream. It has 4 grams of fiber per serving and is only 90 cals. And DELICIOUS!!!
These foods are my cheat without cheating foods cause they are good and satisfying when I want to be BAD!!! You have 300 cals to use wisely (plus you will get more when you work out). Good luck!0
