Points on My Fitness Pal

So I am scrolling thru the foods looking for the calories in a cookie I ate when I come across Weight Watcher points for the cookie. What is this all about? Isn't MFP supposed to be about calories.
Why complicate it and make it harder to find things by adding WW points?

There is a weight watchers group on MFP and this was probably an entry made by an individual. We can enter our own data and save it so it will show up on the data base which is why there are so many entries to scroll through when looking for what we want.0

I've never done weight waters before, but several users in this thread explain why they find it helpful... being able to see the ww points in MFP, that is.

MFP is a food tracker and food diary. Some people track calories, some track macros, some track points or whatever is applicable to the diet they're following.0
