I lost 60lbs & gained 30 of it back!

Lets go back to the end of 2011. My daughter was a newborn and I was eating nearly 100% vegan. I was also nursing my daughter around the clock and taking care of a house all by myself. I wore my daughter in wraps or the ergo, I went out frequently. Had a walking buddy. So after 8 months of working my butt off... I went from 221 (the day my daughter was born) to 161! I felt amazing.... and then my husband came home from deployment. We were living together for the first time in 18 months. I gained all the fat back. Instead of being 30lbs less than my pre-pregnancy, I am now right back at my pre-pregnancy weight.

Today I weigh 190. I want to lose 30lbs by June 1st. My doctor believes I have PCOS and suggested losing weight for treating it. I am trying to do low carb. And by low carb I mean cutting out grains, breads, flours, etc. I will continue to eat legumes, fruits, & veggies. I also want to add seafood & fish to my diet. Not a huge fan, but hey! Its good some pretty amazing health benefits.

I have lost 5lbs since January but I would really like to get down to the 160s again. Its so frustrating to lose so much weight and gain a hefty amount of it back.

You are missing a positive side to this. You kept 30 of it off.! :)

Congrats on that. You are already ahead of most people who lose and gain back by stopping it before it got to be the full amount.

I gained weight when my boyfriend and I started dating, and gained back forty if the hundred I lost.

Now I have to continually remind myself I do not need but about half the calories he does. I know that sounds stupid, but it's hard to eat smaller portions when he's home because I see him eat so much and I don't realize I am eating more than I was.

I agree it's totally frustrating to have to do it again.

I find I can't cut out carbs for too long or I binge on them so I usually have half a pita with my lunch salad everyday, but I definitely pass on the bread and pasta other times,

You are right. I never really thought about it that way before.

I don't think that is stupid. My husband can eat an insane amount of food, still be hungry, and not really gain at all. I have to remind myself too. Plus he always wants cold stone, taco bell, etc. Its hard when people around you arent making healthy choices.

You can still have Cold Stone, Taco Bell, and whatever else you think you can't have. Just work it into your calories or have it for a cheat meal once a week or once a month. I used to think I had to change everything about my diet to lose weight. Turns out I don't have to do that. I just have to eat less of what I want to eat.
