Need advice about core (?) exercise

Hi friends - I don't know if it's 'core'. I'm talking about the bulge between my bosom and my belly button. I'd be grateful for some advice on how to exercise that part of my body. I'm 63 years old and very unfit. Since joining MFP February 1, 2014, I've lost 13 lbs. I've been walking and carrying little weights part of the time, and I'm beginning tofeel the difference in my thighs and arms.
I can't get down on the floor to do any exercises - two broken ankles and one broken knee are all arthritic now. Can anyone suggest exercises I can do sitting or standing or walking?
