For those of you who are 40+ years old and have lost a significant amount of weight, what was your diet plan and form of exercise?

I was 42 when I started here, Followed MFP calorie guidlines and mostly walked for exercise. Best part of this is that nothing is "off limits" you can still have a burger or pizza as long as it fits.
here is a good place to get started:

This is pretty much the same that I would say. I started in July of last year at the age of 48. I too have followed the MFP guidelines. I cook and stay away from the pizza and burgers but that is by choice. I truly feel that if I chose to eat them and worked it into my calories for the day the program would still be working for me.
I have walked and rode a stationary bike but even that has not been an every week constant thing as of yet and I am down 77 pounds. Last week was my first week seeing a personal trainer twice a week but the 77 pounds was accomplished before that. It definitely works!!0 -
52 and lost most of the weight with walking and a 1500 to 1800 calorie goal depending on how active my day is. I also use a Body Media Fit to track calories burned.0

At 41 I started in January 2013 with 20min walks and an eating plan...
Lost 30lbs...bam.
June 2013 I joined MFP started "calorie counting" and doing 30 day shred....did great on that too 3lbs lost and 9 inches and lost 2.5% BF eating 1380 calories (or so I thought)
August 2013 started weighing my food and did another round of 30 day shred...did better 5lbs lost and 4 inches and 1% BF eating 1380 calories and I was sure about it because I weighed my food
September 9th 2013 started lifting weights 3x a week and eating 1600 calories a day regardless of exercise (TDEE) and up to Christmas I lost 6 1/4lb, 5.5inch but most importantly 5.5% BF
So in total in 12 months I lost 44lbs, 18.5 inches and 8% BF...most weight was not a good way...all the inches and BF were a good way.
I am still losing weight...still lifting but have recently added in 2 HIIT sessions a week.0 -
I'm 60. No diet "plan"....No "diet". Use MFP as it is meant to be used. It works. Its easy. Its free and flexible. It can help you live better...and eat better. Bottom line....IT WORKS. If it ain't broke....don't fix it.0
