This may sound petty...

Why won't MFP let me shoot for 2 pounds a week anymore? I have my settings set for 2 pounds a week but it now says my projected weight loss is 1.9 pounds a week. This started when I reached 30 pounds lost & it recalculated my goals for me. It changed my daily calories from 1210 a day to 1200 a day. Again, not a big deal just something I noticed. Did this happen to anyone else? Will this happen at different milestone weight losses? It's not like I'm starving or anything. Far from it! I'm just curious about how this all works.

The idea is that as you lose weight, you need fewer calories to function. So as you lose weight, MFP takes away calories. AND MFP doesn't feel a person should eat under 1200 cals, for any reason. Ever. SO, with these in mind since MFP can only drop you to 1200, that means your pounds per week will change according to their guidelines.

    Does this make sense?? :p

Because it's unhealthy for someone with only 30lbs to lose to aim for 2lbs a week.

you really should be aiming for 1lb for it to be healthy and to ensure you don't lose muscle too.

1200 calories is the lowest amount MFP will give you for a reason...again unhealthy to go under that in a day esp if you are exercising.

I know you say you aren't hungry but are you fueling your life/workouts and getting in enough nutrients, protiens and fats to be healthy???? at 1200 calories a day I already know the answer...No you aren't.

I actually have more weight to lose, the next 30 is part of a small goal. I'll have another 50 to go after that.

I am reaching my goals in proteins, fats, etc...my diet consists mostly of fish & veggies and I exercise daily. Please don't assume I'm not reaching those goals. I'm working hard to reach those each day as well.

it's still under 100lbs...2lbs a week is for those with over 100lbs to lose 1-1.5lb for people with 75-100 so forth etc.

The goals on MFP are considered minimums as well...I don't assume you aren't reaching goals. I know you aren't fueling them properly based on your intake...I know because I was there before...eating low calories etc...boy do I wish I knew then what I know now....

If you look at my diary you see I try to eat at least 120g of protien a day...that is because I now know that in order to maintain my muscle I need to eat at least 1g of protien for every lb of Lean body mass...I didn't know that before...so my first 30lbs was muscle, fat etc...not just fat.

Having been there before, how did you find out the amounts needed? And I'll also apologize for taking that out of context. This is the first time weight loss is working for me so I'm trying not to mess anything up. I have an iHealth scale so I know my lean body mass & things of that nature.

I'm short and fat. MFP has never allowed me to be set to lose 2 lbs a week. Even at my heaviest, if I ate at 1200, it'd only lose 1.4 lbs a week. Alas, but such is life.

I started with weight of course every one does, then I took measurments with my tape measure. I took that to a website (not the best way) and entered those in to get a starting point. I kept taking the same measurments etc and entering them in so I could see the % of BF lost.

I have since had visual testing done that gave me about 25-26%. At my current weight 164x25%=41lbs of fat so I know I have between 121-123 pounds of lean body mass which is where I got my protien.

That is where i get my protien...my fat is based off the same calculation except there are more calories in Fat so I eat at least 44g of fat a day (I often go over on that) and my carbs are what is left over.

    The calculations are this

Protien = LBM x 4 = # of calories from Protien (Percentage can be figured out by dividing that number by calories consumed)
Fat = LBM x 9 x 0.35= # of calories from Fat (again Percentage can be figured out by the above)
    Carbs are the rest

These are referred to as Macro's...http://iifym.com/ and http://iifym.com/iifym-calculator/ is a good place to read up on that.

Scales can be a bit off but it's a good point to see the losses unless you can get a Dexa scan or hydrostatic test (water displacement).

Hope you start to eat more, I only have 25 pounds to reach my goal and I aim for 1500 calories daily.....you will lose weight, maintain more muscle and keep the weight off if you eat more and lose it slower, as frustrating as it might be.

Looks like I won't have a choice. After reading ^, I changed my activity level from sedentary to lightly active because I am more active after I get home from work. Doing that changed my calories from 1200 to 1410. I have a bad feeling that I won't be losing weight if I'm eating more. I hope I'm wrong.

Keep in mind that it's not uncommon for weight loss to stall after you first up your calories. It may take a couple of weeks for your body to adjust to the increased intake level. You may even gain a few pounds. Don't worry. Once your body adjusts, if you're consistent in your intake, you'll start to lose again. If you up your calories slowly, over a period of a few weeks, this will be less of a problem. The biggest problem I see on these forums with people claiming to have no success upping their calories is that they're inpatient and don't give it the couple of weeks it usually takes for results. Good luck!

Mine always changes. I had mine set for a 1.5 loss per week when I first started. I started at 1200 net so as I lost weight, it went down since 1200 is the lowest net you can go on the site. I am now at 1.2 lbs per week. It will keep going down as you lose more weight.
