Non-Scale Goals?

I know there's the non-scale victories (NSV) buy does anyone have any goals they want to reach that aren't entirely scale/weight related?

I have a 5k charity fun run in June that I want to complete. I know 5k might not seem like much to a lot of you, but I am crazy unfit so if I can make my way around it, even just walking, within a reasonable time frame (60-90 minutes) I'll be happy. In fact, if I complete it regardless of how long it takes me, I'll be happy!

A 5k run/walk is a great goal, nsv! I started with just walking...30 minutes, 40, 60, then on to C25K, C210K, and now half marathon training. You just keep at it, and keep reassessing your goals.

I am walking 25k for the British heart Foundation in June along the Grand Union canal in London.

I am also quite unfit and hoping to use this as a good reason to get fit!! This is the longest I would have walked by a long way and, like you, will be very happy just to complete it regardless of the time. That said we are hoping to complete it in around 5 hours.

Best of luck with your 5k - crossing that line at then end will be an amazing feeling! Good on you!

Great goal OP! About halfway through my first year, I signed up to walk a 10k that fall (so I had about 4 months to train) and it really helped motivate me to keep walking until I could go that far without much trouble.

I'd like to up my game with running this year and try to be more consistent. Maybe even work on getting distance up to 10k by the fall. Already hit a glitch though - broke my pinky toe on Saturday... Hopefully it heals fast so I can get back to it!

Being in maintenance, all of my goals are pretty much NSV goals. Though I keep half assing a small cut.

    - continue improving blood work with proper nutrition and regular exercise

    - Dead Lift 360 Lbs

    - Squat 270 Lbs

    - Bench 210

    - OH press 135

    - Not get injured like last year and actually do some CX racing this fall.

    - Complete my first metric century

A 5K walk is a great goal! I have recently set the same goal for myself to do a 5K for my 46th birthday in August. I started C25K training 5 weeks ago and surprisingly really enjoy it!

Running was one thing I said I would never do  I changed my mind when I got closer to my goal and started looking at other exercise options that would keep me active, running is a good workout that can reap benefits in short period of time  Work towards your goal slowly, it will be worth it.

I personally think that crossing the start line is a major accomplishment, crossing the finishing line is like the icing on the cake.

    Those are great goals!

I don't really have fitness activity goals other than to keep doing it. My real goal for the fitness is to lower my blood pressure and be healthier. My blood pressure was soundly in the normal range last week. Yay. I take two meds for it but it still always hovers at borderline or slightly high. My resting heart rate was also lower than usual. I'm happy and I'll keep moving. My bp is very sensitive to my weight so maybe when I reach my weight loss goal I can eliminate a med - that would be great.
  • I used to be able to run a four mile loop by my house in 33:30 and I'd love to be able to do that again! That and finally get my 5K time under 26 minutes, it's at 26:02 now and that's just annoying haha.

By the end of March though I just want to be able to run 4 miles at a 9:30 pace and crank out 5 regular pushups.
