I really think it depends on a lot of other factors. Yeah, it is true a lot of the time though...especially when you get up into the higher ranks.

Can definitely be true. Can also not be true. Depends on one's line of work.

That definitely hasn't been my experience.

ETA: it would be great if there was a linear relationship between work and income, but there isn't. There are too many other factors at work such as intelligence, people skills, relationships, and a good dose of dumb luck. Such is life. That said, in my career it has always taken extra work to make more money.

    Disagree.

Not always, but usually people making more are taking more responsibility and are effective at delegating tasks to achieve an overall goal. Doing your job right is one thing... but effectively creating or managing a team so they can do their job effectively is something entirely different. It's not as easy as many people think.

Less physical strain, more mental strain.

    It's a tradeoff.

obviously there could be a chance that this is true in some instances... but I think that people who think this more often than not don't understand the role of upper management...

I would say I do a little less hands on work but bear a lot more responsibility and do more planning.

Considering all the work my boss passes to me, I would agree.

Yeah I agree, no matter how much more I seem to make I'm still broke all the time.

I really think that depends on the field in which you work.
