Keep on gaining/losing the same few lbs

Okay, Here's the drill:

I keep on losing and gaining the same 3lbs for the past 2 months. I have eliminated most of my soda consumption (Will sometimes have days where I drink about 3-4 cups of it) and I have not been eating very much. I guess due to the lack of motivation to get out of the house and trying to find anything healthy to eat is next to impossible because I'm on a tight budget here. Can anyone give this college student any of advice to continue losing the weight and not gain it all back? I also have a hard time finding any motivation to do exercise because I don't know what would be easy to do and fun as well.

Log your food...doesn't look like you are. You don't have to exercise to lose weight. You're in college so I would assume you are fairly active day to day. You just need to log!

Drink more soda. Clearly your body is in 'Soda Starvation Mode'.

If it's any consolation, they're probably completely new pounds each time.

What kind of college do you go to? Do you live on campus, or at home? Universities have a gym that they offer to students, YOU ALREADY PAY FOR IT WITH TUITION!! I dont know about your school, but mine also offered free group workout classes, those are so much fun and easier than lifting weights by yourself or spending 40 min on the dreadmill.

Do you work? If so, budget any and all bills out of your check, then budget like $50 for groceries, GOOD groceries. Most people (myself included back in the day) who say they are broke spend the MOST day to day on quick fix fast food. Make your own meals. I used to live off beans, rice3, and frozen veggies.. not the best, but better than campus taco bell and blimpies. Also stop buying soda, just stop it, waste of money.

Lastly, get a measuring tape and throw your scale away. Measure yourself once a week and track your progress that way.

No, I have eaten mainly 3 (Or 5 small) meals a day and don't workout at all since I do not have time to due to college. And about soda, I drink only about 1 soda per day maybe 2. I guess I haven't been logging for the past few days, but still that shouldn't been changing anything. I hope this fixes some things.

A couple of 12 oz sodas is around 350 calories right there of pure sugar. Sugar isn't the devil or anything, but in my experience, people who are consuming a couple of sodas per day generally don't have the best diets all the way around. To boot, if you are overweight it is very possible you have some insulin sensitivities and would benefit from decreasing your consumption of straight up sugar and simple carbs in general, especially if you're not really doing much of anything in the way of even moderate exercise activity to burn that **** up.

Also, you might not be anywhere near adequate in RE to protein intake or fat intake. Fat is a very essential macro-nutrient and if you don't get enough dietary fat you can throw your hormones all out of whack which can also jack with your metabolism and make losing weight difficult. Not to mention, certain nutrients are only fat soluble so it is not uncommon to see people with low fat intakes also have other nutrient deficiencies....these deficiencies can also mess with your metabolism.

Of course, this is all speculation...if you're not logging consistently and being as precise as possible then it's really just taking shots in the dark as to what the issue might be.

I have a same issue - losing and gaining the same few pounds.

I recently completed the 60 day Insanity workout and only took a couple of lbs off which have already come back.

I log EVERYTHING. All the pop, all the herbal teas, all the coffee.
I try to log it before consuming it and I weigh it using a scale whenever possible.

I know you don't think you are eating very much, but there are various studies that show when we eat while distracted (reading a book, watching a movie/tv, studying etc) we eat more and we forget how much we have eaten. There was an amazing documentary I saw a few years ago where they had a woman keep a food diary but also monitored her calorie intake. She was underestimating her calorie consumption by at least a third.

With logging everything, it is easy to see the reason I keep losing and gaining despite 2 months of working out like a crazy person 6 days a week is because I ate too much - some days were as low as 600 cals, some as high as 4,000.

But the average was 1950cals a day.

No doubt I would have got amazing results had I stuck to the recommended 1600 cals a day.

I am now doing a less intense exercise schedule (T25) because I like the look of muscle tone and feeling fit.
There are lots of exercise videos on Youtube for free.I'd recommend starting with something by Jillian Michaels.

But we don't HAVE to work out or stop drinking soda to get weight off and keep it off.

It is that consistent lower calorie intake that will do it.

My calorie goal is currently set at 1600 - which - thanks to logging everything - I can see I have gone over for the last 8 days.

    Gah! :noway:

So yeah, consistent food logging will help pinpoint why things aren't moving the way we want them to.

I don't get it. According to your ticker you HAVE lost a lot of weight.
What were you doing differently? and yes log soda and everything you eat or drink.
and try to fit at least some walking in.
