Okay here it goes. I talked to my sister today. I guess my B-I-L is struggling. I'll say he is 300 + and his health is not good right now. He has been trying to do the low carb diet for a really long time off and on just can't stick to it. He is a truck driver and that doesn't help either.
I told her what I have been doing and that I had lost weight with MFP. They do not have access to the internet so he can't use this web site as a tool... I logged all his infor and told her what the site recommended and gave her some ideas of foods that he should eat. (fruit, veg. meat. yogurt. oatmeal. wheat bread... ect.) I also told her that for right now maybe no whites like pasta and rice he can add them in later. And also no sugar, but the natural sugar you get from fruit. So If any one can give me some extra tip that I can throw her way please let me know. I know he can do it. Thanks Melissa

What about if he took those rubber band type exercise things along with him, and he could do some resistance training at stops. Also....maybe he could do some more walking around at stops. Cut the soda...if he drinks any..I don't know, that's a hard one because it is SUCH a sedentary lifestyle.

Don't know if he's a cross country driver, but if he can avoid the greasy spoons & pack his own food, that should help a lot.

    Good luck to him.

This might be hard, but drink a lot of water. At first he will need to make a lot of stops, so I don't know if that will work. But being hydrated is the first step to healing your body.

According to www.caloriesperhour, driving a big rig burns a surprising number of calories. That said, if he's eating out on the road, he's consuming an astronomical number of calories! I know, my dad's having the same struggle. But your BIL just might be surprised at the amount of 'good' food he would be able to eat while losing weight.

Really, the only thing to it is to do it. :flowerforyou:

If he eats in restaurants, order veggies on the side instead of fries, and specify "no butter."

Also, no soda or other high calorie drinks.

5 smaller meals instead of 3 big ones....he could have snacks in his truck like nuts, cereal, or soup-to-go cups.

Apples would be the least messy fruit to take along.

Remind him that every little thing makes a difference. I wish him luck.

Thanks. I knew you all would have some good ideas. He does travel long hall once a week then the rest is short. Thanks again. Melissa

Lean protein! Fish and poultry over red meats. Tell him if fast food is a must, stick to places like Subway, where there are healthy options!
