ANOTHER bmr question

New here, and am getting the hang of things. I LOVE being able to compete against myself...so much so that some days I have a surplus of 1000 calories at 10 pm (and I OBVIOUSLY don't want to eat them at night) due to exercise, plus eating under my MFP calorie goal by about 200-400 cals a day.

I have a lot to lose (I am 5'6 and 'down' from 269 in May) and I am speicifcally wondering if the whole BMR thing needs to be addressed, even when I need to lose so much?

I mean I don't have to worry that I am not getting ENOUGH calories right now, right? I don't need to slow down my efforts or anytting, right? I don't mind losing fat fast (HAH who would, right?) I just don't want to be sabotaging my efforts because I am doing too much too fast.

This is probably a very 'person to person' individual type thing, but I wanted some feedback from those that have been there.

Thanks a ton!!!

You need to make sure you are eating all the calories that MFP assigns for you each day. I know it seems counterintuitive, but eating less does not mean losing weight faster. At the moment, if you have 1000 calories left every night, you risk putting your body into what is known as starvation mode. This causes your metabolism to slow way down, and the weight to stop coming off. You need to eat, at minimum, 1200 calories a day, plus some of your exercise calories. If your net is below 1200 at the end of the day you could hurt your body. Once in a while is not a big deal, but it sounds like you are doing this often. Weight loss is not a race, much as we all wish it was!!

    good luck and stay healthy!
