Hello!
So I'm kinda (really) broke, I'm on SNAP. So my budget for fruits and vegetables are really low. I prefer to do the plant based idea as much as I can. So I'm trying to stock my fridge and cupboard with the most nutrient dense foods so I can get more bang for my buck.

So which fruits and vegetables are the most nutrient dense? I know Kale is an amazing one, but from there they all seem to blend.

Thanks so much!

Take a look at this website.

Buy what is on sale for produce or find a farmers market that accepts SNAP. Dry beans and rice are cheap.

You can grow micro-greens and sprouts for almost no money, with very little space, and they are the most nutrient dense food there is.

That being said, there is nothing wrong with eating some very cheap rice and beans along with your fruits and veg.

Whats considered a micro-green? Or even a micro-food? Alfalfa sprouts count? I adore those things.

Most nutrient dense would probably be a multivitamin and those are pretty cheap

This isn't 100% true, but a good rule of thumb when it comes to fruits and veggies is the darker/more intense the color, the more nutrient-dense they tend to be. Things like dark leafy greens, bright orange veggies, vibrant berries, etc. Summer is a great time to get beautiful, in-season produce for cheaper. (Not sure where in the country you are -- it's already feeling like summer in California, but I know it's still winter elsewhere). Frozen fruits and veggies are also really good in terms of nutrition, since they're picked and frozen when they're in-season.

Micro-greens are just really, really young plants. Alfalfa sprouts are great. Check out John Kohler's "Growing Your Greens" page on youtube for some great info on growing your own micro-greens.

I hope that was Sarcasm. Multivitamins don't have 1/10th the nutrition that live plants have in them.

And plants have higher nutrient density than pills.

I actually ask specifically about nutrient dense* FOODS, primarily fruits and vegetables. I take a multivitamin, but I'm on SNAP for a reason, being I don't have a high enough income to go out and buy multivitamins to pop. Last I checked, multivitamins are not a food, nor covered by SNAP. I agree with Rocbola on the multivitamins benefits, I use it strictly as a backup.

Love the use of Inigo Montoya for the purpouses of witty combacks, I did giggle.
