It seems the consensus is to eat more, but with little strength training, is that definitely the best idea?

Yes you need to eat a fair bit more actually.

I'm a huge Fitnessblender fan too! I workout 30mins/day 7 days a week. Try level 3 & under body weight exercises. Modify the push-ups, etc til you have enough strength to do more. I'm 5'1", eat 1550 or more on maintenance & sit on my butt most of the day besides the 30mins that I workout. Increasing strength training to 2-3X week will help in body recomposition. Good luck!

I would eat more but also look into getting healthy fats too. Avocados, eggs, and olive oil are good sources of healthy fats. I would look into thyroid issues after you start eating more. Any GP doctor can get order the tests and if you go to the college dr they should be able to send you to a lab to get the tests done.
