Ok, in theory , my challenge idea of walking to another SHGP state is good.... but in reality it's not. Well, anything is possible... just how long can you wait for the results.
Using mapquest......and the capitals of each state.
Mileage is rounded up/down depending
Trenton NJ to Boston MA is 282 miles.
Boston MA to Des Moines IA is 1300 miles
Des Moines IA to Olympia WA is 1805 miles
Olympia WA to Austin TX is 2247 miles
Total mileage 5634.....
Morale of story -- before I submit a plan -- work the plan

I think it is a good idea, but maybe set a mile goal and as a team try to reach it like we did with exercise mins? Like my 30 min. walks at lunch I know are a little over 2 miles. I think setting over a couple of weeks or month would be good. Let me know I am up for it.
I will also bring the logs for everything to my appointment. even though sunday I did not finish because I was really bad. :grumble:
Well back to work. check back later.0 -
Please don't shoot I come in peace. Well guys I have been release to normal duty and have now returned to work. So starting tomorrow I will return to getting focus on my personal life too. I went out and bought me new work out cloths for the occasion. A co-worker and I are joining a gym tomorrow and to begin my new focus!! Had to leave the old gym at the Y due to no income while I was out.
Barb there was a site I used to use to log walking mile and it gave you a time frame and a path I did the Oregon Trail and at each check point you get a history . There was multiple trails to pick from and they went by expericne level it was alot of fun. I will see if I can find the site for you at home. Work computer blocks everything.
Anyway I say lets do the walk challage It sounds great !!!! My first walk to Iowa is 936.25 miles. So tomorrow I will start my journey to Kelly!!
Good luck at weight in tomorrow and see ya at the scale!!!0 -
Jacque - yes, please find the website. It may be interesting for us to use.
Good luck w/ your new focus. I'm happy to hear you're returning to normal duty. BTW, what's "normal?" hahahahah
Now ladies I have one funny and one wtf......
Funny first....
Did the family's laundry. As folding my 10yr old son's jeans, he tells me --"those jeans are big on me." I look at the label, size 14... ok, then I looked closely -- WOMENS 14 not BOYS! It seems I purchased my son a pair of womens capri length pants thinking they were boys size 14. So I put them on to prove to Matthew it's womens. Unfortunately, they fit comfortably with extra room in the waist for me.
The wtf....
Curves. At my facility, must be in by 7pm. I got there and the doors were locked. The substitue staff member told me due to the weather she didn't think people would come in. Hello, it's only windy out.! Pointing to the clock, I said well, it's not 7pm yet. Her reply was that clock isn't right. When I checked my cell phone it was 6:55pm. Her reply was the machines have been wiped down. I walked away in disgust.
Now, I do like the Curves program. For some, they have lost 50, 70, 90 or 100+lbs. One 70lb loss in my facility did that in 7 months. However, I'm not losing.
Funny, how my co-worker (a former Curves member) decided to join the Y in her area. No Ys near me. I told her I was considering reviewing another facility just to see what is available. I need something w/better longer hours. This was my thinking BEFORE I got to Curves today. Well, my thoughts now are research research research.
What disappointed me is I wanted to do a 30 minute workout because I knew I would have burned 350+ calories. Based on 3 cookies I had, I wanted a workout of that much calories burned. Instead I did a 40 min walk -- which I was blessed w/a light rain when I began. However I did make it under calorie count today.

hi everyone...made lots of progress today on beading. have to take pics of it all and price it. will keep at it for the next 2 weeks, but only a few hrs a day. my house has been so neglected...dh starts his vacation Sat. my next challenge is to learn how to make a sliding knot....and string beads onto heavy duty thread.
I had read that too Barb...if you're gonna eat your meals by calories...breakfast should be the biggest and supper the smallest. King-Prince-Pauper theory. I always try to have at least 2 - 3 snacks /day....and keep snack cals under 200, and meals 300-500. eating every 2-3 hrs works the best for me, keeps my metabolism pretty steady. I still think you gotta find what works best for you and ideally something that you can live with. A couple other things that help me is drinking 10-12 glasses of water, increasing my protein to almost 1/2 of my current body wt, and keeping my sodium under 1000. I have been considering an appt with a nutritionist as well. If I stick to 80-90% clean eating days, I have success and feel great. Just haven't been able to keep that consistent.....which explains my yo-yo pattern. This ol girl doesn't wanna change...?? want vs need??
I have totally been off track for a good week. Need to get going again. Love the challenge idea. Looks like I'm headed to TX....Jacque, it will be neat to see where we meet up! Could not sleep this am, so was up at 5...dh thought I was going for a walk....and I should have. Doing this all together motivates me....it will be inspiring to watch the miles increase. guess I better get my exercise schedule made.
Jacque..so glad things are going well for you and your doing better.
Hope vita checks in soon.....0 -
