Recipes for people with braces

Just got braces and I wonder what can I eat that is low calories and mashed, pureed....
I mainly eat low fat yogurts and soups (pureed), hummus and soft bread.
I am trying to stay away of mashed potatoes even if I stay under no of calories allowed, however it is hard as you don't have too many options.
Today for lunch I had spinach stew and a beef steak that I have chopped it in a blender. Spinach was ok but the steak was horrible due to texture. Will never try again.

Anyone into this as well??? Thanks in advance.

Some things that I had when I had braces - boiled eggs (mash them up with a fork if you need to), scrambled eggs, muffins (sweet or savory), quiche (baseless), pasta (cooked until it was really soft), rice custard, custard, yogurt, stewed fruit, pureed tinned fruit, porridge, stewed veggies such as rhubarb, mashed cauliflower, bread, smoothies, soups (I'd often have a mug of soup as a snack but you can add noodles, rice or soup-mix to make it a full meal), soft steamed veggies with cottage cheese, rice (cooked until it was really soft).
I like cooking tomatoes and adding a little sugar, salt and pepper, and It's great with bread.
I know you said you wanted to stay away from potatoes, but I found that mashed potato and mashed sweet potato were both great and so easy to eat.
You might find lean mince meat is easier to eat than steak.

These aren't all necessarily 'low calorie', but it all depends on your portion sizes.

When I had my braces I didn't have much trouble with my food, but my sister nearly stopped eating because she just couldn't find anything to eat with her sore teeth, and all she seemed to eat was tinned spaghetti and baked beans! It'll be worth it though

Hope some of this can help you!

I have had my braces for about a week and I have been eating soup, yogurt (both regular and frozen) salmon and tuna fish, muffins, smoothies (of all kinds!) spinich & mozz ravioli, and skinny milkshakes that I add some protein powder too I also just use the protein powder with soy or almond milk and that's pretty filling too. I recently found a hamburger cauliflower caserole recipe that I'm gonna try too...I'll let you know how it goes with the braces and how it tastes too! If it's any good I'll include it in another post!

Also, if you workout lots like I sometimes do, I like the Darigold Refuel chocolate peanut butter and a scoop of my MetRx chocolate peanut butter cup protein powder, then I shake it up and put it in the freezer for about 20 minutes-YUMM! It's fairly high in calories at a whoping 470, but it keeps you full for a LONG time, it's excellent for after a hard workout and it gives you 42g of Protein! Not to mention TONS of vitamins including Iron which is something I need being Iron deficient.

My youngest got braces when she was in fourth grade. She also had an arched palate and needed a palate expander. Medieval device! She couldn't eat for quite some time so I made her protein shakes. I've tweaked them and eat them myself.

1/2 block extra firm tofu (don't say ewww, you don't taste it and it gives the shake a great texture plus the protein)
1/2 to 1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
    1 frozen banana
    1/2 cup blueberries
    1 tspn vanilla
    1 tspn peanut butter
vanilla almond breeze as needed to thin to desirable consistency

Blend it all up, makes a big 16 oz or more glass. Runs about 400-450 cals. Keeps you full for quite some time. I just had a root canal the other week and lived off of them for a couple of days.

You can change up the fruit and use whatever you like. Frozen peaches and blueberries with a pinch of cinnamon is good.

After you have worn them for awhile, you will find you can eat pretty much any normal, healthy food... just nothing like apples or carrots that might pop a bracket off. The couple of days right after an adjustment you will want to stick with the softer foods that will be more gentle on your teeth. I liked oatmeal, applesauce, scrambled eggs, bananas, and cottage cheese. After a couple of days I was back to eating normal foods again including beef and chicken. There should be no real need to blenderize all of your food for the duration that you have braces... just make sure you clean them well.

I will say though, I did not enjoy spinach or sushi whilst braced!
