My exercising isn't the greatest...time suggestions?

Ok, please bare in mind that I have lived a sedentary lifestyle for the majority of my life as a student/office worker so my endurance and ability to workout isn't so hott. I also have sciatica and lower back problems so high impact stuff isn't so great for me. My question is this, if I'm trying to lose 40 lbs what schedule would be best to exercise? I have so far been doing the jillian michaels 30 day shred but that's just a 20 minute workout a day and I feel like that wouldn't cut it. I was thinking walking half an hour on a track after work in addition to the jillian michaels DVD once I got home from work but I am not sure. Help me out guys! I have no idea what i'm doing when it comes to working out.

Start with the walking and go from there - maybe explore yoga for the sciatica? If you've been sedentary - better to ease yourself in than get discouraged or injured. Start with the walking, once that becomes a habit, incorporate the next change.

thanks, i tried yoga thinking it would be helpful with sciatica but it was actually really painful lol worse than cardio because it seemed to really pull on the nerve. I may have just tried the 'wrong' yoga though.

I like to break my excersize up, so every lunch i walk a mile and ever evening too,
On weekends i can do several shorter walks.
U can also look into cycling and swimming to get into things.
The key is to move more and eat less.
Any sort of movement is good, do dancing, squats, lunges whenever u have time ( when waiting in queues, microwaves or kettles)
Also log your food. Most weight loss is done in the kitchen.
