Thanks so much... this has been on my list of annoying things too!
How about typing "prolly" instead of "probably"? I think people think "prolly" is the actual word.
naw that's slang...0 -
Come with Jessica and I to the store.
Should be "Come with Jessica and me to the store."0 -
I've met people that use the word serial instead of serious. Wha? I want to tell them the only thing they're serial about is not using the word serious correctly.0

Love this topic. How about people who pronounce the "t" in often? It is actually silent and does not make you sound more articulate. Or my other favorite is "irregardless" instead of "regardless" :noway:0

Pet peeve = "ones", as in "You can take the books on the table, and I will take the ones on the shelf."
"One" is a singular term, so how can you have more than one singluar term? That would imply more than one and there are two or more of the item.0 -
This really wasn't what I was expecting at all...
*slowly backing out*
:indifferent:0 -
"I seen" instead of "I saw". :grumble:0
-
Supposedly vs supposably... unless you are Joey on Friends, it's not okay.

:explode: :noway:
And I thought I knew you!
"Pop" is a noise made by a small escape of air. Or perhaps your dad/grandfather.
The "pop" you speak of is a derivative of SODA POP, so "soda" is in fact the correct way to say it, regardless of geography. "Coke" is also an acceptable catch-all.0 -

From Dictionary.com:
Pronunciation note
Often was pronounced with a t -sound until the 17th century, when a pronunciation without the [t] came to predominate in the speech of the educated, in both North America and Great Britain, and the earlier pronunciation fell into disfavor. Common use of a spelling pronunciation has since restored the [t] for many speakers, and today [aw-fuhn] and [awf-tuhn] [or [of-uhn] and [of-tuhn] ] exist side by side. Although it is still sometimes criticized, often with a [t] is now so widely heard from educated speakers that it has become fully standard once again.0 -
I have a few that irk me. Unthaw. That's freeze, I would say. Irregardless is another. Putting apostrophes before every "S" at the end of a word for no particular reason, except maybe they were on sale. I have many, but I will give others a turn.0

The addition of the "-ed" suffix used by ghetto folk. Example: "She likededed him for years."0

Mine is aww and awe...... My sister constantly says awe at every cute picture and it drives me bonkers!!!
Yep.
One of my friends uses "mula" all the time when she means moolah, but even the word moolah is completely obnoxious. I don't know why she can't use the word money or even a dollar sign.
"I will buy some of those Girl Scout cookies this weekend when I have mula on me!"

Can't stand irregardless.
