food journal

It has been about 4 weeks since I have begun logging everything I eat, exercising regularly and I have slowly been losing lbs. Today I decided to review my food journals and have noticed that most days I have not met my calorie goal (under) and I have learned that I should avoid some foods because it makes me go way over my sodium intake or my sugar intake. I know it is a learning process, but I have opened up my journal for anyone wanting to take a look and offer some advice or new ideas. Just to say, I have hard time eating back the calories from exercise.
I am 5'2, 40 years old, now 166lbs (from 173lbs)
